BIOMECHANICS

Biomechanics is concerned with the preservation, restoration and development of the function of the foot and its associated structures. Biomechanics refers to an understanding of the mechanics in the body and podiatrists use this to diagnose and treat lower limb dysfunction. When we stand, walk or run our body is constantly making thousands of adjustments in order to maintain balance and posture, it is these compensations that put structures such as muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons under strain. If there is a biomechanical dysfunction present, over time these structures may become inflamed or injured.
